Braves news, rumors and links from Day 3 of the Winter Meetings
The Winter Meetings will conclude Thursday, but there were a plethora of deals reported on Wednesday as the pitching market began to come into focus. The Mets are reportedly bringing back former closer Jeurys Familia while the Dodgers are close to signing World Series nemesis Joe Kelly. Meanwhile, Charlie Morton's next stop will be Tampa Bay and Lance Lynn is heading to Texas.
It appears the Atlanta Braves will conclude their business at the Winter Meetings hoping that some of the talks that took place this week will lead to deals in the not too distant future. General manager Alex Anthopoulos has concluded his stay in Las Vegas and has joined the Liberty Media executives for meetings in Denver according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com.
The Braves will have the 20th overall pick in Thursday's Rule 5 draft and have an open 40-man roster spot after infielder Rio Ruiz was claimed off waivers by Baltimore earlier this week.
